WE HAVE WELCOMED A NEW ELEPHANT TO PHUKET ELEPHANT SANCTUARY!
Last night, we welcomed gorgeous Tong Kwaw to her new home with us at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary. Tong Kwaw has spent decades of her life working exhausting hours in the logging and trekking industries as well as performing in shows… but not any more!
Tong Kwaw (which is a beautiful white Thai flower) is in her mid 40s. She is calm and gentle, so after a good nights rest, we decided to show her around the sanctuary today. She first dipped her trunk in the pond to cool down, and then settled to graze on the hillside.
She was naturally very curious and often stopped eating so she could listen to the other elephants. Kannika and Madee were excited at our new addition and were trumpeting and squeaking loudly!
Tong Kwaw’s night shelter is next to Jan Jao’s and trunks have been sniffing the air, however Jan Jao stepped back nervously. Maybe in time, we will see a new friendship blossom.
